Laura
Burge Lanning, M.D. is thrilled to be opening a new
practice in Louisville. After working as a
part-time pediatrician for 3 ½ years, she is looking
forward to working full time, doing the job she loves.
Dr. Lanning returned to Louisville in 2003, after
spending seven years in Dayton, Ohio, where she
completed her residency training and served as a general
pediatrician at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.
Dr. Lanning was born and raised in Louisville. She
attended Sacred Heart Academy, and went on to receive a
B.A. in chemistry from Bellarmine College in 1992 (now
Bellarmine University). She was the recipient of a U.S.
Air Force Health Professions Scholarship for medical
school and graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University
of Louisville School of Medicine in 1996. (She and Dr.
Abbott were classmates!) She completed her pediatric
internship and residency in August 1999 at Wright State
University School of Medicine in Dayton, Ohio.

Dr. Lanning received the Billy F. Andrews M.D. Award for
Pediatrics during her fourth year of medical school, and also
the American Medical Women’s Association: Janet M. Glasgow
Memorial Achievement Citation. She was elected to the Alpha
Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society and the Phi Kappa Phi
Professional Honor Society. She is board certified in pediatrics
by the American Board of Pediatrics, and is a Fellow of the
American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Lanning has served on the
Medical Care Appraisal Committee at Kosair Children’s Hospital,
and in 2007, she was appointed as Clinical Instructor in
Pediatrics by the University of Louisville which will enable her
to provide education to medical students and residents.

Dr. Lanning thoroughly enjoys all aspects of general pediatric
medicine, including health maintenance and prevention, as well
as management of acute and chronic problems. Her hobbies include
needlepoint, gardening, cooking, swimming, and outdoor
activities with her husband and two sons.
